EC 852/2004 is Law. Businesses are breaking the law and putting the lives of staff and the public at serious risk through poor standards of ductwork maintenance. From fire risks to contaminated airways; there is a legal compliance with Health & Safety Regulations 1992, Regulation 5 & 6 and CDM Regulation 2008 for businesses to adhere to. These regulations state the systems should be regularly inspected and cleaned.
"Fewer than 5% of buildings are inspected despite regulations making this mandatory"
Dr Ghasson Shaba, Senior Lecturer of Birmingham School of Built Environment.
What do we do?
We sample. We provide evidence before and after cleaning. This is important for your protection and proof of cleaning standard
It also provides evidence of the type of contamination within the system. We can provide evidence for budget purposes and we provide evidence for insurance companies in the form of TR19 certification.
Preferred methods of testing include:
PVT (Preferred Vacuum Test)
using the NADCA pump for dust analysis
DIFCOS (Dip Slides)
for sampling moulds/bacteria for supply systems
WFTG (Wet Film Thickness)
for use on kitchen extracts
